In 1998 I began offering woodwork courses for women. Since then many women from around the Byron Shire, from further afield and even from abroad have uncovered the mysteries of woodwork. They have designed and created their own pieces of furniture, using hand and power tools. For some it has changed their lives radically, and woodwork has become part of their daily lives, for others it has helped them regain their self esteem and confidence and the ability to be independent.
