Thoughts
on woodwork
Because
I work in an environment where creativity is not encouraged and
my life is so regimented, woodwork has become my creative outlet
- a form of meditation for me in which I lose all sense of time
and negatives become POSITIVES.
My work becomes an expression of my personal
self. I can do all of the things I never believed I could do, but
have always wanted to do. Every time I pick up my woodworking tools,
I know I am going to learn something of myself as I take the next
step in my latest project. I have learned through the support of
this group of wonderful women, that I have an inner "me"
who is special and creative and I am coming to like her very much!
I have learned that patience is definitely
a virtue and that taking short cuts is not an option in achieving
the result I want in my work and, by extension, in my life.
I look forward to every class with positive
anticipation and the knowledge that I will learn something new and
will be able to give something of myself in return.
